This village is all white!

This is of special interest for any writers...Midsomer Murders and its all white cast!

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-12741847

Also an issue of freedom, as should you not be free to cast who you want?

Why should you HAVE to cast anyone?

Is it not racist to have 'token' minorities?

Positive discrimination is also discrimination so in my view it's not really 'positive'. Surely to be truely equal we have to not see people for race, or gender or sexuality? And by saying 'you've only got white people!' Then you are differentiating races, so are you being racist by noting there is a difference?

What happens if you are doing a period drama where they realisticall would not have been any minorities, or the ones there were would have been treated atrociously?

Race is an interesting topic as it is one we are often very careful about for fear of getting critised or acused of holding views we do not. But to live in an open society, a society opf equal treatment, do we first not need to feel safe and free to discuss ANY topic without reprise? To view duiscussion in a mature, objective way and not hold it against an individual for asking a question? Should one be punished for thoughts or words? Or is it actions that should have consequences whilst words and thoughts fly free and safe?
